... Plans, plans and more plans!
Have you ever wondered what might happen if just for one moment you didn't plan something?
I seem to plan for absolutely everything which then involves more planning and then I find myself planning alternative plan B just in case!!!
I am sure I'm not alone but at the moment I seem to be writing lists for lists sake....and then finding the lists getting bigger .....growing with the more ideas and plans I have thought of....aaarrggghhhh!
...some plans are actually starting to take shape so that's good....
1. We have as a group decided who and where we are exhibiting for our final degree exhibition....our title being "mixed pallet"
2. Meeting on Tuesday with Electric Angel's Adrian Riley who's helping with our exhibition brochure....we're all going to visit him in his gallery, some of the group haven't seen his new exhibition by Jan Bee Brown -
"Tickle My Fancy" runs from March 5th to July 2nd at Electric Angel Gallery. The exhibition celebrates the art of tatting and the female libido..
...so I thought why not take everyone there....I've heard really good reviews about the exhibition and as yet haven't seen it myself, I was gutted not to be able to make the preview but was ill and house bound!
3. I've created a list of what I want to make/create/produce for my exhibition and I'm slowly working my way through it...
4. re-sent my images to a-n.....as an "a-n ambassador" they give me a profile section.....apparently I was ambassador of the month in February!!!.....wonder if I'll get a sticker?!.... after asking about having our exhibition advertised in "degrees unedited" we have just found out that an adverts going in and we don't have to pay for!...whoop
5. As a group of degree students we had some photo's taken by Polly Robinson of our work for our degree exhibition brochure....(although hubby is more than capable of taking photo's)... as part of our professional practise we have to show how we are working successfully as a group and we had to decide as a group etc, Polly was recommended to us by lecturers and previous years students.....so, organised, booked and now done... we should get images back next week...
6. collected clock parts....kindly donated by Douglas and Warwick clock and barometer repairs of Scarborough...also took mechanism for hanging art for my suspended sculpture to Uni to start assembling...
..."Suspended in time"...
starting to put together... port hole cases with machine embroidery |
starting to add clock bezels |
more clock parts being suspended |
I wanted to see how best to group the pieces....I think I might layer them a bit more...
they seem to work together so far...
The title reflects how I have suspended elements I've found and taken marks and shapes from pebbles... if I had left them alone in there own environment they would have already changed by now.... so I have literally suspended them, stopped them in their tracks...frozen in time, yet it was through time they gained their character and unique appearances...
I've already made my list for the weekend!...
the first thing I had to do was my blog!....one down loads more to do!
Have a good weekend and happy reading, bye

....and what did I manage to do this week?
....In all honesty when someone once told me that when you get older time just rushes by, they really weren't joking!....I remember thinking at Christmas over the next few months I'll be producing a collection of work that has built up from my studies from the last 3 years.....It's now March and I am still waiting to create this so called wondrous collection!!!...
However I have managed to make a start...
I had the opportunity to chat to a really lovely artist called James Ryan, he was both interesting to listen to and also really helpful when he came by our studios in the afternoon, it's great to be able to hear feedback from visiting artists.....a fresh perspective....
the cotton threads have been removed, they definitely didn't work! |
I finished my relief pebble mark...
..as a prototype it was good to see what did and didn't work. Now I've made one I am going to do another, with various additional elements....although I would like to make it out of something less heavier...
My order of art goodies arrived... |
After going to York Art Gallery last week and seeing the Gordon Baldwin Exhibition...
I was really taken by the simplicity of his mark making, the marks were so determined and carried a lot of weight. The subtle, earthy colours were really beautiful. I also really like his drawings as well, they really were impressive, Hubby even bought me the catalogue.... It did give me an idea to develop further ...
...so I pressed some threads into some air drying clay to simulate the threadlike...map like marks found on a pebble...when it dries I might try and see what I can do with it!
...I have also been in touch with an engineering company about making a mild steel sculpture...ok at the moment my proto-type looks a bit crude but you kinda get the idea as to what I want to create...this is just one mark from a pebble, using 5 layers of steel to try and help emphasise the groove...
since this quick attempt, my designs have changed, I have a selection now!
